Thirty seven man power employees who were protesting in front of the Ministry of Power & Renewable energy violating a court order were arrested, police said. A group of workers recruited to the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) through manpower agencies yesterday engaged in a protest in front of the ministry despite a court order preventing such gatherings at the location. They were arrested last night and are to be produced at court today (25). Meanwhile Telecom Permanent and Manpower employees also staged a protest march yesterday resulting in severe traffic congestion near the Lake House Roundabout and surrounding areas in Colombo Fort. The protesters were marching towards Temple Trees through Slave Island as Lotus Road was temporarily closed. The employees had resorted to the protest as they had not received a proper response regarding demands to provide permanent employment
