Four people were killed and six others injured on Thursday when militants attacked security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district, police said.
The forces were returning from a search operation in Kungoo village when they were attacked.
The victims comprised three soldiers and a civilian woman. The woman, Jana begum, died after getting hit by a stray bullet.
Reinforcements were immediately rushed to surround the area and track the militants, the police said. The injured have been airlifted to Srinagar for treatment.
