A day after Nigerian students held a protest after being accused of cannibalism and being booked for killing 19-year-old Manish Khari, several Africans were attacked and a Nigerian woman was allegedly abducted in Greater Noida on Monday.
Khari died on Saturday in a private hospital of "unknown poisoning". Some locals even alleged that the Class XII student was forced to inhale a substance by a dark-skinned person after which Khari passed out.
Five Nigerian students were then booked for murder, kidnapping and using drugs.
According to a Hindustan Times report, an protesting mob assaulted some Africans near Pari chowk.
The missing Nigerian woman was found at a hospital later in the night, but police chief Dharmendra Singh refuted the kidnapping claim and called it "a rumour to escalate tension in the area".
The Association of African Students in India posted a video of more Africans being attacked by a mob on Tuesday night at Ansal Plaza in Greater Noida.
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Tuesday sought information from the Uttar Pradesh government over the arrest of the African nationals for their alleged role in Khari's death.
